Draft #2: Product Summary and Analysis

The article “Video - The New Fleet Telematic Killer App” by Johan (February 2019) introduces LTYX DriveCam, a road-facing camera that can be installed in the user’s vehicle that serves multiple purposes. From basic dash-cams functions to detecting driver’s behavior as well as recent road traffic accidents that happened in the vicinity of the driver’s location.

There are functions that trigger the camera to start automatically or in a predetermined interval in order to protect the user’s privacy. Videos recording will then provide drivers with “post-drive coaching” to further improve their driving performance.

The camera also has facial tracking properties allowing it to detect the driver’s fatigue and distraction as well as provide the driver with real-time notifications, giving drivers feedback such as visual and audible alerts and vibrations to focus the driver’s attention back on the road thus preventing potential road traffic accidents.

When compared to other road-facing cameras on the market, LYTX DriveCam should be a business’s primary choice as they provide many functions a normal vehicle dash-cam does not.

One function that LYTX DriveCam has is to locate, track and manage your company’s vehicle in real-time through their online platform. Companies can use this function to keep track of the arrival and departure times of their vehicles to ensure their drivers stick to the exact routes provided by setting alerts when vehicles enter or exit specific areas or operate beyond certain times. The system will then make adjustments to the routes and provide a more efficient route to minimize time loss. LYTX DriveCam is also able to help companies manage costs by tracking idle time and fuel consumption based on accurate reports from vehicle engine control modules.

Another function that LYTX provides is to be able to install LYTX DriveCam anywhere on the car, you can connect up to 4 DriveCam to provide 360 degrees view surrounding the vehicles whereas cameras such as “Pearl RearVision” only provides video recordings from the rear of the vehicle. During road traffic accidents companies can review the video recordings to retrieve data of accidents.

A vital function that gives LYTX DriveCam a competitive edge over other dash-cam competitors such as “Pearl RearVision” would be their machine vision and artificial intelligence (MV+AI) technology. This technology can detect risky driving habits, recognize risky driving practices, from unsafe braking habits to the speed of the vehicle to cell phone usage. By giving drivers a score based on the frequency and risk levels of their driving behavior, they can review these data to improve and change their driving habits. LYTX technology can detect if a vehicle stopping at the stop sign by combining machine vision with data taken from the GPS, accelerometer and the vehicle’s on-board computers.

LYTX DriveCam combines multiple high-quality video streams with sophisticated data from a variety of sensors, it then analyses all information and data recorded using the in-build artificial intelligence to build a predictive risk model that can help drivers see and avoid dangerous situations before they occur.

With dash-cam becoming a necessity for car owners, I think that these unique functions that LYTX DriveCam provides can help protect good drivers against passengers or nearby vehicles that make poor decisions. Companies can utilize LYTX DriveCam to help absolve their drivers from false claims that could affect their job and the company’s reputation.
